What types of batteries does Moment Energy accept?

Moment Energy accepts healthy, non-DDR EV battery packs suitable for second-life use.

We typically work with:
• Lithium-ion chemistries (LFP, NMC, NCA)
• OEM EV packs from passenger and commercial vehicles
• Packs with ~70%+ State of Health
• Intact, undamaged packs with original BMS and connectors.

Moment Energy also accepts stranded batteries (or second-chance batteries), which are unused, non-deployed lithium-ion batteries originally allocated for projects like Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or Electric Vehicles (EVs) that were cancelled or did not proceed.

No. Moment Energy does not accept Damaged, Defective, or Recalled (DDR) battery packs.

What steps should I take if I have a pack to repurpose?

To repurpose your EV batteries, submit our inquiry form with any available details. Our team will review the pack, confirm eligibility, and provide fair-market pricing. We’ll coordinate transport, and once the pack arrives, it undergoes intake testing before being prepared for second-life use.

What is the difference between repurposing and recycling?

Repurposing gives EV batteries a second life. After retirement from vehicles, batteries with ~70–80% SoH can still provide years of reliable energy storage. Moment Energy tests, repairs, and integrates these packs into certified BESS products.

Recycling, by contrast, breaks batteries down into raw materials like lithium, nickel, and cobalt once they reach true end-of-life.
